I think one of the best ways to promote climate literacy is to explain the things that actually affect the climate. Such as the tides which are affected in different ways by a normal to an exaggerated elliptical orbit of the Moon around the Earth and also by a normal to exaggerated elliptical orbit of Earth around the Sun. The currents of the bodies of water on Earth like the different oceans and seas. The wobble of Earth on it’s axis which can have profound affects because of the amount of sunlight absorbed or reflected back into outer space by the atmosphere. Alone or combinations of these different things can change things at small intervals such as a decade or so like El Nina or El Nino or over tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of years like the Ice Ages. No human activity has ever caused Earth to enter into or exit from an Ice Age. Explain that Earth has had Die Offs from extreme temperatures and greenhouse gases and Snowball Effect where almost all of Earth’s surface was frozen and white including salt water. Humans did nothing to contribute because we weren’t around yet. Get away from the liberal scare tactics and accept this planet does what it wants when it wants whether we’re here or not.
